Waylon's Place: Reviews & Ratings
Food was Great, priced reasonable and staff was fantastic. We sat in the outside area that was covered and wrapped in plastic curtains due to the cold weather but my daughter's loved being able to see the river. We had some geese fly in and they got to throw some bread out into the water to feed them. Only making things better for the breakfast and location !!! We will be back for breakfast and to try the lunch and dinner
Hidden just off the road, Waylon’s Place is a true gem! We were greeted so warmly and seated by the nicest waitress by a window overlooking the water… such a beautiful, peaceful view. The food was absolutely delicious and clearly homemade. I had the half order of biscuits and gravy with bacon, and my husband had eggs, biscuits, gravy, and toast & everything was perfect! The coffee and juice were great, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Townsend!
Stumbled upon this place on our way back to Gatlinburg after visiting Cade’s Cove. Everyone loved their dinner and appetizers. The service was excellent. We came an hour or so before close and everything was available. It was a great option to have something delicious out to eat on the weekend without having to deal with the crazy traffic, and kid friendly.
The river view either in the restaurant or on the patio is awesome. The “Crack”Burger was delicious and seasoned very well. The BLT was great. I hear breakfast is really good to so we will return in the morning. Very clean! Bathrooms clean too!
We love supporting locally owned businesses!! I over heard the owner talking to a few patrons, and was especially happy we decided to eat here. They just opened up and are knocking things out of the park. We got pepper jack cheese bites loaded, potato skins, crack Burger and fried tenderloin sandwich. Very tasty, glasses stayed full and we were very well taken care of. If we had longer to stay we would be going back. Awesome views right on the river great atmosphere.
Brand new restaurant with southern hospitality overflowing into the parking lot. Our waitress, Missy, was absolutely amazing and so friendly, and was an absolute pleasure dining with. The food was absolutely wonderful, with a pancake so good my companion changed from a French toast/waffle person to a pancake person. I had the best french toast I have ever tasted. Sweet Tea absolutely knock your socks off. Highly reccomend 10/10!
My husband and went here on Wednesday, 1st time under new management. We were greeted and property seated in the outside, screened in patio overlooking the river. I had the grill chicken sandwich with Mac and cheese. My husband had the Philly with mash potatoes and gravy, and we shared an order of tots. The food was cooked perfectly? The tots were golden brown. Prices were comparable to any restaurant the style. The only reasons I didn't give 5 stars across the board was the maintenance man was working on the patio while we were eating, and my chicken sandwich was served on a giant hamburger bun. It would have been better on a brioche bun or the liking, IMHO. We will definitely be going back. Nice menu, plenty of sides to choose from

The riverside views, visible from both the cozy indoor seating and the sheltered patio wrapped in clear curtains, create a serene backdrop that elevates every bite. In colder months, the outdoor area remains a favorite as it allows diners to connect with nature — as one family delighted in feeding geese floating by — blending the calm of the outdoors with the comfort of thoughtful shelter.
The food at Waylon's Place echoes the warmth of the setting. It’s clearly made with care, balancing homemade flavors that satisfy without pretense. The highlight for many is their breakfast: biscuits and gravy served with tender, smoky bacon, perfectly paired with fresh coffee and juice. Yet the lunch and dinner menu stand strong, too. The famed “Crack” Burger arrives seasoned to perfection, juicy and rich, while the loaded potato skins and pepper jack cheese bites offer bold, comforting flavors that keep returning customers — and their glasses — full.
What struck me most was the seamless blend of quality and atmosphere. The kitchen remains open late, accommodating last-minute appetites without sacrificing freshness or selection. Meanwhile, the spotless environment, including the immaculate restrooms, underscores a meticulous attention to detail that often goes unnoticed but is deeply appreciated.
